This position will be located at
Prairie State Park, 128 NW 150th Lane, Mindenmines, MO 64769
Shift is primarily Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with a half hour lunch break. Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility; that
could include working nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

  • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair of state buildings and facilities within 100miles of Prairie State Park.
  • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities grounds,and cemeteries.
  • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
  • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, spraying equipment; ATVs; brush hogs; and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • Stewardship duties including maintaining bison fencing; assisting with the care and health of bison herd including feeding, round-ups, auctions, and vaccinations; spraying herbicide; tree removal; brush clearing; and seed collection.

Qualifications - All you need for success
This position may be required to obtain and maintain a commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess the license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
1 – 3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, mechanical repair and farm work including the operation of farm machinery and/or construction of structures/enclosures. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience) Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
