Spotlight On BARCO Drive-In

BARCO Drive-In Lamar MissouriIt is summer and a beautiful weekend evening, so what do you do for entertainment in Barton County?  With clear skies overhead, a slight breeze and a perfect temperature outside the answer is clearly the Barco Drive-In.

Many take this option for granted, but we shouldn’t!   In the US, there are less than 400 Drive-In Theatres that show high-quality digital movies, less than 15 in the state of Missouri and only 3 in the 4-State area.

The Barco opened on Friday, April 28, 1950 and have been providing quality entertainment to our community for six decades.  It is a mutual relationship as Barco Manager, Scott Kelley explains.  “One of the biggest obstacles the Barco has faced in recent years was converting from 35 mm films to digital. The community stepped up in such an amazing way to help the theatre raise the much-needed funds to make the new technology possible.”

The Barco joined & has remained a member of the Barton County Chamber because they believe in being a part of our community and supporting the local economy.  They are looking forward to a strong business future and look forward to being a part of the great things to come in the area.

A fun fact many do not know is that Scott and his wife Pam met in high school when both were working at the Trail Drive-In, located in Nevada, MO.  Managing the Barco is a passion for Scott and the entire family.
